Dr. Laura Pipon-Young
Biography
Dr Laura Pipon-Young is a chartered clinical psychologist and registered practitioner psychologist with the HCPC She has worked within NHS mental health services since 2003, including eight years within forensic services working with mentally disordered offenders in many contexts, Dr Pipon-Young currently runs an independent practice and specialises in the assessment and treatment of adults with histories of offending behaviour and a range of psychiatric difficulties including psychosis, trauma, autistic spectrum disorders and personality disorders.
She has previously supervised and managed a team of psychological therapists across two inpatient hospital sites and provided consultation to both teams and wider services. Dr Pipon-Young has experience of conducting assessments and written reports for the courts and mental health tribunals involving individuals with a wide range of presenting issues including many types of offending, risks to the self and others (including children), capacity assessments, intellectual problems and personality functioning.
In addition to her NHS and expert witness work, Dr Pipon-Young is currently a visiting lecturer at the University of Sussex in the areas of clinical and forensic psychology and an associate research member of Canterbury Christ Church University for the clinical psychology doctorate course.
